Reuters reports an Iraqi court has sentenced a Turkish woman to death by hanging for joining the Islamic State.
The news came in a statement Monday by a spokesman for the criminal court in Baghdad.
The spokesman said 10 other women of various nationalities were given life sentences.
All the verdicts are open to appeal, according to Reuters.
The Islamic State gained control of nearly a third of Iraq in 2014, and in December Iraq finally declared victory, but members still attack the country.
