Three Egyptian soldiers are dead, the first reported in a 10-day-old campaign against Islamist militants in the Sinai peninsula, Reuters reports.
Egypt’s military put out a statement on the matter, but it did not say where or when the soldiers died.
The campaign began Feb. 9, and the military told the news agency that it has killed dozens of militants and arrested hundreds of suspected fighters and criminals.
This is all before a three-month deadline that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi set to clear the region of jihadists, according to Reuters.
Attacks by the jihadists in Sinai have killed hundreds of police, soldiers and civilians since 2014.
