A Palestinian died overnight in West Bank after he attacked Israeli soldiers and they shot him, AFP reported Thursday.
The Israeli army entered Jericho, a Palestinian city, in order to arrest suspects and protests broke out, according to the news agency.
“A Palestinian assailant armed with an iron rod ran towards (Israeli) troops,” an army statement said.
“The troops fired towards the assailant and confronted him from close range and were able to stop him. A knife was also found in his possession.”
The man was Yassin al-Saradeeh, 33, from Jericho, AFP reports.
An online video shows what appears to be Saradeeh running toward soldiers with a heavy object before they shoot him.
