Egypt’s days-long heatwave will continue until Wednesday

CAIRO: A heatwave currently gripping Egypt is expected to continue until Wednesday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority said.

A days-long heatwave started on Thursday coinciding with the beginning of Ramadan.
Swathes of the country experienced a gradual temperature rise by 4-7 degrees celsius.
Meteorologists quoted by local media expect temperatures in Cairo to hit 41C.

Milder temperatures are expected along the north coast, and temperatures will peak in Aswan and the New Valley at 47C in the daylight hours, but will lower by the evening.
Visibility will be affected by mist during morning time in Lower Egypt, and along the north coast. Low and medium-level clouds are anticipated on Wednesday along the north coast.
Forecasters previously warned that the weather will be “very hot” during daylight hours when Muslims fast.

Egypt’s second city of Alexandria is forecast to receive a high of 33C.
This year, Muslims in Egypt are fasting for more than 15 hours daily.
