The United Arab Emirates confirmed 391 new coronavirus cases after conducting an additional 82,191 tests, the health ministry announced on Friday.
The total number of cases in the UAE has reached 66,193 while the recoveries increased to 58,296 after 143 individuals recovered after receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the death toll increased to 370 after one person died due to COVID-19 complications, according to the health ministry.
Health minister Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed al-Owais on Tuesday warned the number of cases could rise after an “alarming” increase over the previous two weeks.
The daily infection rate has fallen from a peak of over 900 in late May but the country has seen periodic spikes since, despite a generally falling trend.
The UAE could reintroduce a de-facto overnight curfew in some areas of the country if COVID-19 infections continue to rise, National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) spokesman Seif al-Zahri told Emirates TV on Thursday, according to Reuters.
