Coronavirus: Saudi Arabia detects 708 new COVID-19 cases, over 1,000 recoveries

Saudi Arabia detected a another drop in new COVID-19 cases with 708 new infections in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 323,720.

Twenty-four people died due to complications caused by the virus, raising the coronavirus death toll to 4,189, according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries in Saudi Arabia continues to increase as 1,032 people recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of recoveries in the country is now 299,998.

Jeddah reported the highest number of new infections, with 61 cases. Hufof detected 53 new cases, Medina detected 48 new cases, and the capital Riyadh detected 38 new cases.

The number of critical cases in Saudi Arabia was decreasing, the health ministry spokesperson Mohammed al-Abd al-Ali had said earlier this week.

The largest group of people to be affected by the coronavirus in Saudi Arabia is the youth in the country, he said, urging all members of the public to follow preventative measures to help contain the outbreak.

Al-Abd al-Ali also advised those infected with the virus to quarantine for at least 14 days to ensure they do not infect others.
