UAE records 1,348 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths

The United Arab Emirates confirmed 1,348 new COVID-19 cases, 1,316 recoveries and two deaths in 24 hours, the country’s health ministry reported on Wednesday.

The numbers were determined after the UAE’s health authorities carried out 249,847 coronavirus tests.

The country’s death toll rose to 1,639, recoveries to 530,085 and total diagnosed cases to 550,029, according to figures from the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA).

There are currently 18,305 active cases in the UAE.

Wednesday’s numbers indicate a minor one-day rise in daily cases compared to Tuesday’s 1,270 newly recorded infections.

The UAE’s health ministry on Tuesday announced that over 73 percent of the country’s eligible population aged 16 and above had been vaccinated along with 80 percent of the UAE’s elderly population.

Meanwhile, over 11.5 million doses have already been administered within the country since the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines in December 2020.
